  • Overview

    We are looking for a Business Analyst to support systems and data driven business improvement projects to help improve our Energy Investments business.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    Within OEI there are three primary teams. Investments, Asset Management and Business Operations. The Business Operations team is responsible for driving transformational change across OEI, driving efficiencies, reducing business risk and improving outcomes for our investors. This is achieved through system and process driven improvement projects. We are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst to join the OEI Business Operations team. They will report to the Business Operations Manager, with close liaison with the Business Operations Director. 

     

    The role will mainly involve system and data driven improvement projects throughout the project lifecycle. More specifically, the role will involve gathering and analysing business requirements, evaluating and proposing solutions by working closely with technical teams, 3rd party software providers and 3rd party asset managers, developing business cases, scoping and developing project plans as well as project management, documentation, hands on configuration/delivery and benefits tracking. The candidate should be comfortable with data, seeking ways to drive additional value back to the business by improving the way we receive, capture and use it. 

     

    Examples of possible projects include improving the quality and timeliness of data, working with our outsourcers who provide this data. This may include utilising our data warehouse and our business intelligence tool, Power BI. Another example would be implementing an Asset Management Platform, scoping requirements and working through the business implications of the system’s integration.

     

    Within the role we are also looking for candidates that would be comfortable being BAU business owners of implemented technology solutions / products. They would support the business with BAU reporting processes, collating, managing and governing the data into Power BI.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a blend of strategic thinking, analysis and solution-oriented project management skills and be technology literate with previous experience of implementing system driven change in businesses. You must have the ability to work through technology solutions and options drawing on your own and others technical expertise, ensuring that solutions designed deliver against business requirements. Specific experience of systems integrations and data projects would be advantageous. You must be a self-starter, organised and methodical with a solution and ideas-orientated approach to solving business problems. It would be beneficial for the candidate to have previous knowledge of Power BI.

    Qualifications

    Experience required:

    • Minimum of 2 years project management / business analyst experience. Could suit a management consultant wanting to move into industry.
    • Business requirements gathering, e.g. being able to plan and run workshops
    • Experience of system led change projects, specifically data projects / system integration methodology and projects would be valuable
    • Business case development
    • Stakeholder management
    • Business Analysis training / qualification would be beneficial
    • Project Management training / qualification would be beneficial
