We are looking for an experienced data and reporting specialist to join the Portfolio Team within Octopus Energy Asset Management (OEAM), which manages and reports on investments into £2.7Bn of energy generating assets in the UK, France and Italy.  Expansion into Australia is expected.

The Funds invested are a mix of Octopus managed retail products (EIS, VCT, ITS), institutional fund LPs and project finance from a range of banks.  They have invested into c.300 energy generating companies that own solar power parks, wind farms, gas fired generators (also called Reserve Power, RP) and biomass and landfill gas projects as well as anaerobic digestion systems (AD).

The investee companies, which typically have no employees, are managed by specialist teams within OEAM who focus on driving performance from the underlying assets and manage the businesses, including finance, at SPV level.  The Analytics and Reporting Associate will liaise directly with these operating teams, to develop the value, integrity and management of data used to track and improve portfolio wide financial and operational performance.   He/she will use his/her strong communication and analytical skills to support fundraising, reporting, forecasting, valuations and all aspects of investor relations and communications.

The role will include a unique blend of strategic thinking, analysis and solution oriented project management, including hands-on development and maintenance of Power BI reports and dashboards for a range of stakeholders as well as supporting the preparation of a range of fundraising materials.  The role provides a unique opportunity to gain a solid and detailed understanding of both investment management and renewable energy.

In particular, we are looking for someone able to cut through large amounts of information to succinctly describe and present key takeaways in all communications.  His/her written English and punctuation will be exemplary.   He/she will oversee data and information quality and conceptualise and generate new graphs, figures and presentation methods to continually improve all aspects of our communications, both internally and externally.   He/she will work closely with the business operations team to design and automate reports and new client interfaces that continually enhance our customers’ experience.

We are looking for a highly numerate excellent communicator with at least 5 years’ experience of managing and presenting detailed information to a high quality.  Investment/financial experience and an interest in renewable energy is an advantage but not a requirement.   The ideal candidate will be expert at generating Power BI reports, have excellent written and presentation skills and a proven ability to work well with different teams.   He/she will be highly organised, plan ahead and be comfortable delivering accurate information to tight deadlines.   They will be passionate about detail, digging into information received and taking accountability for the accuracy and quality of their reports.  They will thrive in fast moving and growing business – continually improving the systems, processes and the quality of deliverables.  A science degree or an MBA is preferred.
