    About the role

     

    The Specialist Finance team are responsible for managing the finance function for the companies in the Octopus Inheritance Tax Service (“OITS”), Octopus Enterprise Investment Scheme (“OEIS”) and 6 Venture Capital Trusts. This role will sit across the OITS and OEIS products, responsible for managing the legacy OEIS portfolio and driving efficiencies across the portfolio, restructuring companies and preparing financial information for the OITS lending portfolio. The successful candidate will drive change in these areas, by re-building OEIS reporting and driving efficiencies, learn to restructure companies efficiently and provide a more in depth understanding of the OITS lending portfolio. This role is ideal for a driven individual who comes up with their own ideas, who is keen to make an impact and improve the way things are done.

    Responsibilities

    • Co-ordinate a program of restructuring a portfolio of legacy EIS companies.
    • Prepare management financial information for EIS companies, and ensure accurate financial records are maintained at all times.
    • Prepare quarterly valuations for EIS companies.
    • Co-ordinate audits for EIS companies, including identifying those which do not require audit and ensuring all filings are made within statutory deadlines.
    • Work with the tax manager to ensure that required VAT and corporate tax filings are made accurately and on time.
    • Maintain the OITS loan database of c.75 loans, ensuring interest accruals are booked in an accurate and timely manner, borrower invoices are raised and payment of interest is monitored.
    • Produce financial information for OITS lending
    • Review property lending management accounts and financial information.
    • Drive efficiencies in the management of EIS companies

    Qualifications

     

    • ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with up to one year post qualification experience
    • Technical accounting experience
    • Strong excel skills
    • Experience of working with SUN systems would be advantageous
    • Good communication skills to develop and maintain relationships across departments, including investment professionals, and within the team
    • Experience within the financial services sector preferable
    • Exceptional organisational skills with proven ability to meet tight deadlines
    • Ability to understand the bigger picture and keep senior personnel up to date on the status of deliverables
