About the role

 

The Marketing Head of Channels will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of marketing campaigns through our advertising channels, and will manage Marketing Assistant/s to drive engagement with our financial adviser base and our investors. The role is focused on distributing our tax efficient investments to the UK adviser marketplace, with a small level of direct to investor activity.

The person in this role needs to have a good technical marketing skills, especially email marketing and media buying, and the ability to work both strategically and tactically. They should be able to respond to high level objectives and motivate, train and lead a small team. They’ll be robust in execution with a strong attention to detail, and will need to work effectively with stakeholders across the business.

Strong relationship building skills, and a can-do attitude are a must. Success will depend on a close alignment with the business line managers and the BDMs. Knowledge of and passion for regulated financial products is an advantage. This person must also be passionate about marketing and the function’s role in creating a growing business and an industry-leading brand.

They must be comfortable working autonomously while functioning as part of a wider team. There will be significant opportunities to learn and grow and they need to have the ambition and drive to cope and be excited by a very busy, ever evolving environment.

The role will be product agnostic to aid in delivering a joined up, adviser-led approach. The role will involve development and implementation of campaigns in liaison with our key Strategic Partners. Therefore, the ability to deal with complex marketing plans and multiple competing deadlines is critical.

Ultimately, you should be able to oversee marketing campaigns to help build our brand and deliver positive customer experience.

This role reports into the Head of Marketing for the tax-efficient business.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Plan and manage the marketing campaign calendar for the tax efficient investments arm, with the objective of materially increases sales and pipeline
  • Lead, motivate and train Marketing Assistant/s
  • Create and implement coordinated marketing campaigns. Work closely with the internal Octopus copywriting and design functions, agency partners, Strategic Partners team, business line managers and BDMs
  • Manage Octopus Investments’ advertising channels including all print and digital media
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for further sales expansion across the customer life cycle to include cross-selling Octopus products
  • Measure and report on campaigns to senior stakeholders
  • Report on best practice and emerging technologies, with recommendations for elements that Octopus Investments could consider
  • Incorporate insights into marketing and sales efforts
  • Participate as needed with any high priority Octopus project

Qualifications

Job Specific Experience/Technical Skills/Abilities

 

  • A history of delivering marketing campaign results
  • Experience in building a brand and driving demand through the whole marketing mix (above the line campaigns, email marketing, content marketing, etc.)
  • Confident in managing agencies
  • Knowledge of the IFA marketplace with an understanding of adviser motivations/needs (experience not necessary but is an advantage)
  • Detail-oriented and quality conscious
  • Proven writing and editing skills
  • Must possess lots of IQ points and the ability to learn new skills quickly
