About the role


We are a small team supporting an ambitious, high growth organisation attract and hire diverse talent across the group. You will be responsible for many day-to-day activities, essential to the smooth operation and delivery of our busy team. You will be front line with the candidate and hiring manger population whilst also supporting the wider recruitment team sourcing top talent to enable the business to achieve it business strategy and vision.


Success for this role will require applying a candidate and customer centric, delivery orientated approach to ensuring our roles are filled quickly and with ease with the best most diverse talent in the market. It will require someone who takes pride in providing an optimal candidate and customer experience; who is proactive and highly responsive. It will require both diligent implementation of day-to-day activities with creative problem solving and a continuous improvement mentality.



Key accountabilities of the role are:


This role will work closely with the wider recruitment team and will include but not be limited to:

  • Briefings with managers and teams to make sure you are getting that fit just right!
  • Using a variety of tools (LinkedIn, job boards, social media, networking) to help your source direct and low cost top talent into Octopus.
  • Posting roles on career websites, press publications, searching CV databases and reviewing CVs against requirements to create a shortlist.
  • Attending industry events and meeting people. We really care about hiring the right kind of people.
  • Introducing new technologies and sites to attract the best candidates, reviewing and managing existing job boards. We are totally open to new everything, so come in and change the way we recruit!
  • Spending lots of time on LinkedIn, involving yourself in relevant groups, seeking out high calibre people for us to engage with, publishing roles and at times even interesting and relevant content.
  • Phone screen/skype/video interview candidates to ensure cultural fit through competency-based interviews, and administering psychometric/additional selection testing where required.
  • Following up on and building relationships with individuals our amazing team refer to us.
  • Building talent pools for us to ensure we are always a step ahead of our recruitment needs.
  • Arranging interviews. It is a small yet very busy team so be prepared to get stuck in and roll your sleeves up!
  • Actively participant and lead from the front on all our social media recruitment strategy.
  • Full 360 ownership of the recruitment process from sourcing to contracts.
  • Being an ambassador for candidate experience and ensuring we always have this at the forefront of our mind.
  • Ad hoc project work e.g. agency events, interview training projects, system work etc.
  • Start to create candidate talent pools for volume role categories.
  • Ensuring the Applicant Tracking System is up to date and accurate.


To be successful you will need to demonstrate that you …

    • Have proven end to end recruitment lifecycle experience within an agency or in-house
    • Experience of digital/social media sourcing tools and techniques
    • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills; ability to handle high volumes of multiple tasks and priorities and remain calm under pressure
    • Strong administration skills with previous diary management experience, MS outlook and excel experience
    • Ability to understand role requirements and match CVs and candidates accordingly
    • Calm, professional and engaging phone manner with an ability to explain a variety of roles, ‘sell’ Octopus and champion the group and our culture and values
    • Possess the confidence and empathy required to pass feedback to candidates (positive and developmental!)
    • Displays integrity – sincere in own behaviour and in dealings with others
    • Self-motivated and self-aware – recognises own strengths and weaknesses and is committed to personal development
    • Results-focused – understands what is important to staff, clients and management – is committed to achieving goals and accountable for their work. Tenacious approach to delivery, quality of output and organisation
