We are looking for a Compliance Advisory Manager who will work within a recently expanded team, taking ownership of key relationships and initiatives across all Octopus entities.

About the role

The Octopus Compliance department features an exciting and interesting team, with a goal to protect the business by embedding compliance culture, promoting customer obsession, and supporting Octopus's core values: Be straight forward; be bold; and be helpful. The team has a broad remit, covering all parts of the firms asset management business and, having recently increased its resources, is looking for someone to join the Compliance Advisory unit. The successful candidate will be somebody who is keen to add value and propose solutions beyond the basic expectations of compliance. There will be certain key partnerships within the firm that you will form and it is essential that you look to become a key partner. You will have the opportunity to develop a clear strategy for how you will perform your role at Octopus, and be able to make it happen.


  • Building/maintaining relationships based on providing clear, reliable and consistent advice around regulatory matters and developments, including working with the HR function regarding the Octopus training and competence programme
  • Co-ordinating our Approved Persons programme, including registration and de-registrations, together with providing advice on the relevant process and its requirements
  • Assist in maintaining/implementing compliance policies and procedures;
  • Provide support and training to staff on compliance matters
  • Regulatory returns (via FCA's GABRIEL and CONNECT systems)


  • Relevant experience in retail and/or institutional asset management
  • Compliance-related qualifications
  • Extremely well organised and ability to prioritise their workload, always being one step ahead
  • Detailed knowledge of the FCA handbook
  • Team player with a can-do attitude
  • Must be curious and seek to instil automated and digital solutions wherever appropriate
  • Must be comfortable in using technology and leveraging digital applications and media platforms
